Small world...

We always say it's such a small world. Only on extremely rare occasions are we truly reminded if this. When I was 16-18 years old there was a Canadian singing group that I was ver fond of. Whenever they would come to my city my friend and I would make every concert. A city nearby? Yup we're there. 3 hours away? No problem. Then I grew up.

Well, book club meeting tonight. I'm still fairly new and have just now been in long enough that everyone has hosted once. This hostess has talked about her husband lots at previous meetings but I've never met him. We are sitting in her livingroom and in he walks. Turns out I do know him. He was a short term member of the band mentioned above! I couldn't believe it.

Truly is a small world. Best random text to my friend (and fellow fan girl back then), "Do you remember so and so from (insert band name here)?"
"Yes"
"Well I'm sitting in his livingroom."
"WHAT?!? WHY????"

Enough douches for you?

Bored...

Interesting. Bored tonight so trying out the new features of the iphone camera and save them with the new filters. I try and upload to Camera+ and the filter is removed leaving a normally coloured pic. I then plug in my phone accessing the pics on my PC also leaving a normally coloured pic. I upload from my phone to my blog to reveal the filter I took the pic with in the first place. Really iPhone?

Practicing

So since I cannot make the Halloween party I've decided to do my photoshoot finally so my costume doesn't go to waste. Now to raise $250 as the photographer is giving me quite the deal!

Might as well practice!

Finally...

That time is finally here...

IT Crowd

FYI...the finale episode of IT Crowd is out!!!! I'm seeing good reviews, now to get my paws on it...

Missing someone

Heard this song today, and it made my heart ache for a friend I lost long ago. Missing someone is so hard, especially when they are so close, yet so out of reach.

WTF Ze!

Paying it forward?

In Canada Tim Hortons is the place to get your coffee and donuts. The popular thing to do around here in order to pay it forward is to buy the order for the person behind you. Or buy a box of donuts or smile cookies and have them hand one out to every person until they are gone. I love this thought and have been the recipient of one coffee purchased.

One morning I decided to try it out for myself. I ordered mine, then not sure what to say I asked for the total of the person behind me. It was $2 something so I said I'd pay for that too. Done and done. I drove away smiling, stopped at the stop sign just past the drive-in and waited to turn right. I looked in my rear-view mirror and saw the person pull up, receive their order listening to the worker and then pull in behind me. Suddenly I was overcome with a feeling of embarrassment and panic. I felt like I needed to get away from this person, like the worse thing in the world would be for them to pull up beside me and wave or thank me. It became a mad race with dramatic car chase music playing in my head. Pulling onto the next road (which happened to be 2 lanes), moving in front of him when he switched lanes, turning and he followed, turned again and he followed, then suddenly he turned off the road we were one. Phew, I sure dodged a bullet there!

What an odd reaction to have.

I wish this was my excuse

Wishful thinking

Really wish it were Friday, all I want to do is drink and play games. Just one if those weeks that needs to end that way!

I guess instead I'll head to aquafit and get up early tomorrow for kickboxing so that I indeed can drink and game tomorrow!

Oh Robin, thanks!

Between Two Ferns

I'm not sure why people bother putting up with his abuse, however I'm glad they do because I enjoy it! Not as funny as some of his others but still...

Augh...labeling...

So I've been going through all my blog posts and labeling them. Makes it easier if someone wants a recipe, they just click that label. Or wants to see just my TF2 screens, my pics etc.

Well I went to the beginning posts of my blog and had to giggle as my 'rant' label was being used more and more. Man I felt I had a lot to say back then. March 4th, 2008 I think was one of my fave rants. I know this post was actually written many years before 2008 on my old blog and moved to Blogger that year, but still, made me laugh. Read it.

I find it interesting how my feelings are still the same, I just feel no longer obligated to go on and on about it! Anyway, labeling continues! I hope it is useful.

T-shirt

It is a rare occurrence lately as there seems to be less and less shirts I like, however a new one is on it's way!

Color Test

I thought this was a neat challenge, seeing the results of some of the people I know I'm surprised at some of the high numbers.

Art

I've been hosting some paintings from a friend who has been out of the country for the last year. Now that he is back I fear my walls will soon be bare! The search for artwork has begun. I have 12 foot ceilings in this particular room so there is lots of room! Saw this today and reminded me I better get on it...

Oh and I love this one!

What real men look like in underwear ads.

It's done!

Booked it...my next tattoo. I had made a rule for myself, I need to touch up my foot before getting another tattoo. Well, that one is booked for mid October. After searching and looking at the online portfolio's of every artist in town I thought I finally found my artist. I wanted to add to an old tattoo that I had done by a friend who was apprenticing to be a tattoo artist. It didn't turn out great but still encases memories so I thought adding to it would help. I went to meet with this new guy and by the time I left the plan was to do a steam punk type tattoo (gears, mechanical pieces etc) over my shoulder blade and to completely cover the old one.

I e-mailed the artist with a few more questions and he never got back to me, so I took that as the universe telling me it's not the right guy, right time or whatever reason. Then at aquafit last night I complimented a woman on her amazing tattoo. She had a beautiful tree across her shoulder, it was really a piece of art, just gorgeous. Turns out it was done by this same guy, so I thought to try one more time and sent him an e-mail last night. Well he has replied and I've sent my deposit! January 9th is the day!

Boardgame Night: Chez Geek

So tonight was Chez Geek: House Party Edition. This game was quite fun, a card-based game that reminded me of Munchkin and Flux with it's own little additions.

You start out with a job that shows some features of your character as well as how many slack points you need to win. So basically you follow the order of play, managing visitors, doing activities, shopping and generally fucking over your roommates in order to reach the required number of slack points and preventing the other players from doing the same.

We played 3 times and I'm happy to say I won twice! The best part was when one of the other players had countless amounts of alcohol and weed in front of them. They were 1 point away from winning and I played a card that indicates parents are coming to visit so all booze and weed cards had to be discarded. This player went from 19 points to 4! Lucky for me...

The makers of Chez Geek were quite cleaver in making the cards. There were a few that really caught my eye, like the piercing. Gives you slack points however if you get another job with a higher pay rate or a raise you have to discard your piercing. But then that tattoo card (which also gives you slack points) cannot be discarded and you can never have a job or raise that gives you a higher pay rate than 4. Thought it was a neat difference between a tattoo an piercing.

I'd absolutely play this again.

Halloween

I bought my Halloween costume before having a place to go. Was invited to yearly party put on by a friend who lives 2 hours away and was thrilled to plan to go! Finished my Halloween costume, found a make-up artist to complete the look. Last night while planning some final details on the trip it was brought to my attention that I have concert tickets for the night of the party!! Sigh...now I will be all dressed up with no place to go :(

For some reason...

For some reason I just love the rhythm and tune of this song. I have yet to look up the words for this song, but I have a feeling I wont' like them....

Love it...

Here we go...

This was recommended to me for my next board game night...I think I may need beer with this one.

Woooo!

The infamous Halloween shoes! I practiced today, this may take some dedication...

Hmmmm

A look I've always loved...so I bought my first pair ever. Boots! Well boots that are not big clunker winter ones for -40 degree weather! I'm not convinced it's me...

I see all these fashions I love on other people and always think, "Man I wish I could pull that off!" One of them being stilettos as many of you know. Well I had a burst of confidence being 5 lbs from my goal weight again and when I ordered shoes for my Halloween costume could get a pair of boots for 1/2 price. Lucky thing they were super cheap...cause well, so am I! They are pretty comfy and an easy trainer heel for me, sad I know. They are a little more beige then grey I'm thinking...still ok? I don't know...

Houston we have a problem!

Makes me want to try harder...

Shocked...

wow...Breaking Bad...this is sure turning out to be a horrifyingly vicious end to that series. I don't know if I can handle 2 more episodes! This series is either going to go out with the biggest bang any series ever has...or it is going to be the biggest disappointment yet. There will be no grey!

Mmmmm

The fruits of my labor in my wild garden!

Try it!

Type 'zerg rush' into Google...then shoot away!

Sigh...

Feeling like death...this cold sucks. I know I'm not feeling well when my day consists of:
- sleeping
- Pitch Perfect
- Life of Pi
- last 2 episodes of Freaks and Geeks
- more sleeping
- starting IT Crowd over from episode 1

Now if only this migraine headache would leave me after being my companion for 20 hours I can put up with the other symptoms...

Really is...

It's absolutely that kind of week, that by Friday I crave this video and it even makes me cry.

Finally

Ever since I've started swimming for exercise and taking part in water aerobics classes I've been wanting a new bathingsuit. My bathing suit is a 2 piece and as much as I love it, it is not practical for water aerobics. For one, when we do volleyball jumps the top rides up and when we do resistance training with floating dumbbells they would get tangled in my skirt. As I've been losing weight the suit has fit less and less and I find myself worried my skirt will fall down with one jump and I will moon the whole bunch.

This morning getting ready for my workout I realized the chlorine has been eating away at my suit. There are patches where I can see the fabric basically disintegrating. My images of a skirt falling down were replaced with me walking from the pool as my bathing suit unravels and falls to the floor. That's it, I have no choice, I need to find one!

I've already been to every store in town that carries suits with no luck so I returned to one that specializes in traveling and had the biggest selection. After perusing the racks I had an armful of about 15 suits to try,  varying styles and sizes. After talking to the girl who indicated chlorine eats Lycra and I need a polyester suit, my choice was cut in half. I tried one after one, I was pleasantly surprised to fine one that would just do...and one I actually liked. And I even liked it on MY body!

Needless to says I found one, finally. It will do, paying over $80 was not in my plan however it's better than ending up naked in front of my exercise class and instructor!

Augh!

This little fucker is driving me CRAZY!

To make...

Yum

Made Gnocchi for the first time. This recipe was really good! Mmmmm...

- cook gnocchi according to package, strained and setaside
- warmed up 2 Tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp dried rosemary, 1/2 tsp dried parsley and a clove of garlic (chopped). Added about 35 large pre-cooked frozen shrimp and cooked gnocchi (500 gram package). Stirred and cooked for 5 minutes, added 1/2 cup frozen peas and cooked until warm.
