Movie Night

Instead of watching a movie I decided to curl up in a blanket and play Super Mario World, spent so much time playing this game in my childhood!

So my wax girl was going on and on about eyelash extensions. I'd heard of this before, only because one of my buddies was asking where to get it done because his wife wanted it for his birthday. I had no clue what he was even talking about, let alone where to get it done. He wasn't surprised I didn't know. So when my girl was going on about the training she just went to and she is now a level 2 in applying these extensions I asked what they were.

So, you basically get an extra, longer and darker, hair glued to your current eyelash hairs. Basically...I think. Then she started saying how most women don't even wear eye make-up anymore after having it done. Well that caught my attention. I don't wear a lot of make-up but the one thing I do do every morning is my eyes. Just a quick 5 minutes, but the though of not having to do it was very interesting. 5 more minutes every morning?! So tempting. Those of you who know me know how incredibly busy I am and how 5 minutes could be sitting sipping my coffee, reading a book, or even an extra 5 minutes to get things done to give me more time for hobbies! So I took the leap.

2 hours laying on my back while she worked on my eyes. My poor back...the whole process was rather simple. I barely noticed her working on my eyelashes and the idea was she was going to add ones that would still look natural. Apparently you can get colors and feathers added to. When she was finally finished, and I managed to actually get off the table, I looked in the mirror and almost burst out laughing. I mean I like them and all, very dramatic for me, but are you kidding? No one in their right mind would think these are my actual lashes. Then again I don't wear a lot of mascara and if I did maybe they'd look that noticeable? I don't know. I'm so inexperienced in all this aesthetic bullshit, maybe the reason I decided to start trying different things this year. 

We'll see if I get use to them, I will admit I didn't put any make-up on this morning! Which was kind of awesome.

Was cleaning out a drawer in my dresser and found a pair of pants that I bought online about a year ago and they were way too small. I got them for a really good deal so to pay to ship them back was ridiculous so the pack rat in me just packed them away. Well I put them on this morning and they fit! Made my morning...

Things you find out...

I had my mind completely blown last night. A distant relative of mine is working on a family tree and sent out a draft to the family for review. As I'm looking down the list I see an extra box beside my grandparents among their other children. I don't recognize the name and then I realize this child died 1 month after their first birthday. I stare at it in shock, wondering how I could go all these years not knowing that my grandparents had another child I knew nothing about.

To some people this may not be a big deal, but I am very close to my family. I see my parents several times a week, we do Sunday family dinners, I visit both sets of my grandparents a minimum of once a month. I was shocked to see that my dad had another sibling. After texting my mom I find out that this child died from pneumonia when she was a year old. My heart felt heavy and broken just knowing my grandparents went through the pain of losing a child. The things that happen in people's lives that they don't share or talk about, really reminds me never to judge as everyone has this amazing and often painful background that defines who they are today.

Laying with my legs up the wall reading. Too bad the choice reading from book club is a best selling teen novel. I guess it could be worse...I could have to read Twilight or 50 Shades! I'm thankful for this book now.

Stepped out of my comfort zone today. Was told no better way to build self esteem then to be brave, wear something you wouldn't normally and rock it even if you have to fake it. I think I did ok.

I lost my bookshelf to the evergrowing collection of boardgames so I needed to find a new place for my 'to read' books. I'll need to buy some awesome steampunk bookends. They are in no particular order and currently reading Dune and Game of Thrones.

Hurtful

We had some newcomers to board game night recently. Just found out they find me 'ditzy'. They said they want to try a new game but it might be to 'in depth' for me. Are you fucking kidding me? Ouch...

I'm the one hosting the regular board game nights and the newbees feel this way. I wonder if they'll give any thought to my reasoning for turning down their invite for games tomorrow. I mean it is a long busy day tomorrow with digital book club in the evening. But still...they probably wouldn't want a ditz there anyway.
