Yum

Nothing like a garlic, cilantro, parsley, kale juice in the morning. Kinda kicked my ass!

Augh

A cup of coffee at 2:45 PM is a sign that the hangover is still kicking my ass.

Maybe it's the booze...

Maybe it's the booze that's talking...but I've never noticed that it's the engie that's showing some leg and the frills on the pyro's "dress"...they are both very feminine. I'm sure this new 'awareness' is due to the amount of wine I've had tonight...

Hmmm

Pears and cilantro. I'm not convinced this is a good match.

Shirt wish list

Man I'd love this on a t-shirt!

Curves

Curves will always make the day better!

Breakfast

Oh the colors in natural foods is just amazing. The pulp from purple cabbage, celery, apple and a lemon.

The juice looks like some chemical experiment and was quite tart but not horrible.

Experiment

Came home from my first dance class in a new style craving salt...chips? No...bowl of cereal? No...

I decided to try something. Chopped up a few strawberries, a bit of cilantro and splashed with raspberry balsamic vinegar. I'm pleasantly surprised...yum!

Must have!

Just love this bathing suit...please be mine this summer!

Just great

Lunch

Oh George

So most of you will know this shirt and will have read some of the awesome reviews for it:

Well good old Goerge Takei added his own review today...

One of the many reasons he is my hero!

Breakfast

Oh yum...sounds odd I know but so good. I used frozen mango and banana instead of adding ice.

Being good...

Behaving is no fun...even so I'm proud of myself for keeping to it and fighting cravings. One final treat planned for tonight, then after that I'm hoping my only indulgences will involve yummy drinks and misbehaving!

Ready? Queue food journal! Organic celery and carrots with some organic peanut butter for lunch (and a few whole grain crackers as a treat).

Then when the cravings set in later afternoon I turned to my Rawganic protein bar I had made late last week. Soooo yummy, will post recipe soon. Later afternoon arrived, coworker left...found a stash of chocolate at the office. Smoothie time! Turned to my classic berry smoothie: 1 cup coconut water, handful of spinach, 1 cup frozen mixed berries, 1 frozen banana, 1 Tbsp hemp hearts, 1 tsp bee pollen and 1 tsp Schinoussa Sea Vegetable greens.

 Thrilling post I know...

Today is the day!

It is finally warming up, the snow is gone (for now), and my health problems are beginning to stop. It is time to start getting back on track. Going from eating healthy, burlesque dance once a week, boot camp once a week and pilates twice a week to nothing at all and eating nothing but bad food for 3 months is tough. Sure takes a toll on how you feel even though I didn't gain much actual weight. Very difficult cycle to break.

Today, my treat is my coffee. My needed help during the transition!

The new addition...

Been a while since I've added to my tshirt collection. I've had this shirt for a few weeks and just always forget to take a pic. Snapped a quick shot and only realized later how much it sucks and that the actual art on the shirt is barely visible! Next time I wear it I'll get a better pic! Still love the Mario/Alice in Wonderland mash-up!

First time for everything.

I had surgery for the first time in my life yesterday. One of the strangest and scariest experiences of my life. Actually the scary part was building up to it. Once I was in the surgical ward I wasn't scared anymore. Up until that time I was terrified of dying under anesthetic. I wasn't scared of the procedure...just being put to sleep!

Checked in at 11:30, waited for about 45 minutes, then a resident doctor came in. He sits with me taking history. He then goes on telling me I don't really need the procedure and I'll probably get to go home. He leaves. 20 minutes later my specialist comes in and stars talking about the surgery. I'm a bit baffled and point out that the other guy just told me I don't need it. My specialist says, "Well he's here to learn and should have only taken your history, not diagnosed you." Alright, a little shocked we start the process to get me up to the OR.

Everything was a little less scary when I was waiting in a bed in my hospital gown. I still think the most painful part was when the guy was unable to get the IV in. Man digging around in my hand was not cool. The nurse then arrived and, not sure if I'm embarrassed or not, used a baby IV on me and had it in to rehydrate. Not eating since 7:00PM the previous night and nothing to drink since midnight. 3:00PM rolling around I was getting a headache.

Suddenly I'm going to the OR. Was nervous, which was lifted by the cute anesthesiologist who talked and joked with me while taking my history. He was shocked at my age to have never been put under before. Rolling me into the OR was frightening, strapping my arms down getting ready. I'm laying looking up and the anesthesiologist's upside down face comes into view. "The secret to good dreams is happy thoughts while you go under," he says. He smiles at me and starts repeating, "Sandy beaches and tequila, sandy beaches and tequila, sandy beaches and tequila..." As he chants this I count back from 10 and start notice it is getting harder to breath, I think, "This is it."

Next thing I know I'm in the recovery room and the nurse if calling my name. I did it! I'm still here! I kind of like this world and am really glad I get to hang around a little bit longer.

Thanks

Thank you George Takei for sharing this, I needed the giggle.

Supper

A really good roast and avocado and lettuce with honey mustard dressing.

The roast was easy, 5 cloves garlic, 1 tbsp grapeseed oil, 1/2 tsp pepper and 1/4 tsp thyme, mix together into a paste and rub on the outside of the meat (that's right, I said to rub it on the meat). Cooked it at 450F for 25 minutes and then 325F for 60 minutes. Could have taken it out probably 10 minutes sooner but it was still very good!

Giggle...

While writing my last post I Googled to find some terms to describe reading a bad book...the second hit made me laugh. Hence, verbal vomit...even though I think it's used in terms of speaking more it still works.

Sucked into the grey...

So...a friend sent me Fifty Shades of Grey for free. I finished my book club book and figured, eh, why not. It's something I can read in between and can stop anytime to read my next book. I've heard from women how amazing it is, and I mean I like porn as much as the next person and would probably enjoy reading some.

I'm just over 2 chapters in...and wow. This is the worst written book I have ever read. Now I am NOT a writer, my grammar and spelling is horrible and this is why I do not get paid to write. I cannot believe most women made it through the first chapters to even get to the sex! I lost count of how many time his 'lips were pressed into a hard line' and the continuous descriptions of lips, eyes, hair...and unfortunately not in a sexy way. Was there really the need for the extremely detailed description of turning on and using her ipad? And the "oh crap, he's mad" "holy shit an iPad" I'd rather not read all her thoughts because they make me want to punch her in the face.

Last night I was actually growing angry while continuing to read. It's like the author said, "Well I can't just write a book of sex scenes so I'll add a bunch of random shit in between." Yes...you could have just written an entire book of sex scenes...and you should have. Then I realize the writing kind of matches the acting in the worst porns, what should I expect? I really hope the sex is worth wading through all this verbal vomit.

Stress eating...

Life took a real cheap shot at me today...and landed the punch. The cure? Well for this moment it's my family's secret chocolate sauce recipe. If you like dark chocolate this sauce is a dream!

Sometimes...

There are some funny ones out there but every now and then there is one that makes me burst out laughing.

Oh yes...

First glass if wine in over 2 months...savouring the moment.

Steam punk I love you...

Messed up...

And owl skull? I guess it makes sense but I still find it messed up!

Took a swift kick from life...

Life gave me a pretty good kick...but I'm hoping to stand up soon enough.

Today's breakfast

My muesli today is yogurt, muesli mix, 1/2 an apple, cinnamon, hemp hearts and some coconut sugar.

And this juice took forever to make! But is still good.

  • 2 organic fennel bulbs
  • 1 cucumber
  • 2 apples
  • a bunch of romaine lettuce

Now since I had such a healthy breakfast...I can have chinese food for lunch right? RIGHT!?

A salad from the future!

I know I'm posting this on the 5th of April, but this was my supper yesterday, April 4. My salad was made in the future! It was sure good.

Yesterday's Breakfast

I forgot to post the mud I had for breakfast! It was so good.

  • 1/4 cup muesli (I use a cereal muesli mix)
  • 1/3 yogurt (organic plain Olympic yogurt for me)
  • 1 Tbsp hemp hearts
  • 1 Tbsp coco
  • 1/2 banana chopped
  • Sprinkled coconut sugar to taste
Like having chocolate pudding for breakfast.

Interesting

According to this I think I'm Roman.

What are you?
