Less F*cks to be Given
My book club book this month? The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson, really looking forward to reading this one. I'm also the first one in the group to choose a self help book. Figured this was a great start.

Food
My favorite thing to make when I have lettuce that is starting to wilt. Lettuce soup. Now don't be shied away, this soup is surprisingly amazing. If you like soup.
- 2 tbsp of olive oil in a soup pot
- 1 onion sliced (if I have no fresh onions I throw in a few tsp dried onion)
- 2 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp dry
- 1 tbsp chives
- 2 heads, or so, romaine lettuce chopped
- 4 cups chicken stock (I use 4 cups water and 2 bullion cubes if I don't have my own stock)
I cook everything in the oil until the lettuce is wilted. Then I add the stock and boil a bit. I blend carefully in my blender, I use a Blendtec and it works amazing for creamy soup. If I didn't have such a good blender I'd probably lower stock by 1 cup and add 1/2 cream after blending to thicken.
After blended I put back in the pot and throw in some Swedish meatballs. Wish I had leftovers, could use the comfort food now! Mmmmmm...

Best marinade
I have to share this one as it is one of my favorites. I've never been good at cooking roasts. As I get beef from our family farm I end up with a lot of roasts that I usually try and cook but never turn out great. After finding this marinade, I have since to make a bad roast.
Yummmmmmmm
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 Dijon mustard
- 1 clove garlic crushed
- Salt and pepper if desired
I put this all in a large Ziploc freezer bag with the roast, put it in the fridge overnight and the next day prior to cooking for dinner. Turning it over occasionally. I cook the roast dependent on the cut. This one was particularly fatty so I cooked it low for longer. I pour the sauce and roast into a baking dish and the sauce is great on rice. Enjoy!

Shirts
Monday, great shirt to cheer me up. On my days off I tend to pick the shirt based on how I anticipate the day to go! Brought my car in for routine work and of course they found things that needed to be fixed. Good news is I had the service shuttle drop me off at home instead of work. You need me to come in? Oh man I'm sorry I have no vehicle. Hello Borderlands 2 all morning!
Shirts
For financial reasons, and lack of closet space, I decided to take a break from buying new t-shirts. Then the other night I'm checking e-mail before bed, Etsy pops up on my phone that my favorite shops have some new items. Next thing I know I'm browsing Etsy in random shops and come across the most amazing mashup design. Suddenly I'm searching for it on my favorite tshirt site and am shocked to find it. Well...
Cannot wait for it to come in! Last one...for a while. I promise.

Practicality
Went out last night and was reminded how much I love this bag. Hands free, my wallet and phone are safely strapped to me, so practical and looks sexy as hell.

Miles Better as you age
People fight aging so much. I have friends who sell skin care products and their social media is swamped with posts claiming "wrinkles are so ULGY!" Discussing the morbidity of finding grey hairs. How their body is sagging. Some are even younger than me!
I will admit I'm not quite mid-life (well I sure hope I'm not) but I feel that I am at my best so far. I plan to work and just keep getting better. Age gracefully and just work with what you've been given! I'd go into the spiel of loving yourself, but I don't even do that just yet so I won't bring it up...

Mmmmm
In search of a tall-ish sturdy man (or woman) to wear this...and let me lean on them for a bit. This is incredible.
Stressed
Stopped at the pet litter for cat stuff. I needed some love, and this bunny wanted some love...perfect. He just sat there, even closed his eyes, while I rubbed his back and shoulders and behind his ears. Thanks bunny.

Stress...
I'm officially stressed, and it is causing me to want to indulge in food and beer. Bought an iced coffee on Thursday but shit hit the fan at work so I didn't have a chance to eat it. I threw it in the freezer. Well I'm eating it today...surprisingly yummy when I mixed in the whipped cream.
Challenges
Stressful times at work lately. Yesterday I had some time off and all I wanted to do was lay in bed, watch American Horror Story while eating everything I shouldn't. Instead I decided to exercise and did one of the toughest workouts of my life! Championship from the Insanity: The Asylum Volume 2. I completed Asylum, but didn't even know there was a volume 2!!
410 calries and an average bpm of 143 (max 175) later and I felt awesome. Very sweaty and exhausted but so proud that I could get through that workout. It is so hard to choose wisely, but I always feel better when I do!

Did you know...
In the famine of war-time,
- Cat meat was called "roof rabbit".
- Dog meat was called "blockade mutton".
Bonus info: Cannibals call human meat 'long pig'

Yep...one of THOSE days
When you want something to work out so badly yet you are terrified of what you'd do if it did work out and all the things that could go wrong in the meantime. Feeling blah, and down. I need ice cream, or cake, or a really good work out followed by a good sleep. I'll go with the latter.

The Power Pocket
I'm hoping my Kickstarter luck will come back. My most recent backed project was a flop and a total waste of money. It was the Luuup cat litter trays. Doesn't work at all...at least not when you have 3 cats.
That being said I just backed the RooSport PowerPocket. When I do my trail running I often carry my phone in my hand to listen to music or have it ready to take the random pictures I love taking. This seems like a great idea and I'm curious how it will turn out.

Shirts!
I bought this shirt a while ago and it was lost in the mail. Qwertee happily sent me out a new one. I love it and realize I haven't added it to my collection online. I'll take a picture the next time I wear it.
That being said, I saw the most amazing picture today and received permission from the poster to share it. So perfect. I wish I had a Deadpool costume! I have waaaaayyyy too many ideas.
Just perfect.

Fame
Tried on a dress in a local shop yesterday. Beautiful dress with amazing detail, fit wonderfully and I was ready to fork out the $130 but just couldn't stomach spending that much. Was perusing their site today and lo and behold...me in the dress! I should request a discount for modeling fees.

My dear friends...
A friend sent this to me today, I wasn't sure if I should smile or frown. This situation in the US is truly messed up. Some of you are furious and terrified, others are OK but none of you are truly happy about the outcome. My dear friends ...I got nuthin. Should I start taking bids on marriage for citizenship?

Rebelling
I figured it's as good a day as any to rebel wear one of my t-shirts to work! Not a huge MLP fan but I loved the shirt.

Extrinsic motivation
I know I always say I eat well and exercise for me, and I do most of the time. However sometimes I need that extrinsic motivation to get me back on track. Mmmmm salad...

Blast from the past...
Went to an impromptu concert last night. Was informed by my long term best friend that a singer we were really into when we were 19 was in town. It's amazing how the the nostalgia comes back when you hear music from a certain point in your life. It reminded me that we last caught her in concert 15 years ago. That night I got my foot stepped on by someone while waiting for the concert to start. They had a shard of glass stuck in their shoe which proceeded to slice the side of my foot open. I got to watch the concert from the sidelines while holding toilet paper to my bleeding foot. My friend and I had just started college together and also worked at the same store. I was dating a guy that I was also trying to help get back on his feet. I got him a job, found him a place to live and my repayment was him cheating on me and getting arrested for selling crack and stealing from friends. What a great time!
The concert last night was a good reminder of how awkward life is and how things change so much. I don't drink much anymore, stopped when I started my fitness journey but like indulging now and then. I stopped after 3 beers last night as a lot of reminders why I stopped drinking started creeping up.
There was an older lady sitting next to us, completely wasted. So much that she was crying, hugging the bouncers, yelling at the artist to stop telling stories and sing. The bartender finally convinced her to leave. I then had to use the washroom where I overhear a girl rush into the neighbor stall telling the person emerging, "I'm sorry, I'm going to puke where you peed." Classy...
The icing on the cake, was when we met the artist. Had a picture taken with her and she signed my friend's book. Just before we approached her this young lady, quite intoxicated, runs up to her and says, "I don't know why all these people are here to see you, you aren't that great." Why pay to see someone just to put them down? I get that artists are all acquired tastes and this young lady was not part of the generation that enjoyed her music when she was big. If she isn't your thing, don't go. There are a lot more places to get wasted and insult people.
Overall it was great, her rock songs were done in an acoustic style so it was very different but still good. Was also a good excuse to wear my heeled boots and my Jessica Rabbit shirt! Thanks for the reminder of why I changed my lifestyle...

Groovy
This came up in my Google Play radio, I kind of dug the tune. I liked it less when I watched the video, so close your eyes. It's entertaining either way!
